THE 69ER

FORBIDDEN LIBRA.

Concept:
A wickedly elegant re-imagining of the classic Cuba Libre.
Half dark temptation, half bright release — two worlds colliding in one glass.
A dual-layered cocktail symbolising desire and control — dark caramel rum entwined with golden cola spice and a whisper of vanilla smoke.
It looks like a dance between shadow and light.

Ingredients:

  • 50 ml 69 Rum

  • 15 ml Amaro Lucano or coffee liqueur

  • 15 ml fresh lime juice

  • 10 ml vanilla syrup

  • 60 ml artisan cola reduction*

  • 60 ml chilled soda water

  • 1 dash smoked salt
*Cola reduction = gently simmer premium cola with brown sugar & cinnamon to intensify flavour.

Build:

  1. In a tall, narrow highball or double-old-fashioned glass, add ice.

  2. Pour the 69 Rum, lime, vanilla syrup, and Amaro — stir slowly.

  3. Gently layer the cola reduction + soda mix over the back of a spoon so the dark and light halves intertwine like silk ribbons.

  4. Garnish with a twist of charred lime peel dipped in gold sugar.

Flavour Profile:
Velvety caramel, bitter-sweet cola spice, bright lime, and a smoky finish that lingers on the lips — indulgent, slow, and dangerously moreish.

A beverage with ice in a glass, garnished with a lemon peel and a straw, surrounded by swirling smoke or vapor, with a blurred background of warm lights.

Serve Ritual:

Present it under low light; the server slowly stirs the two halves together tableside, creating an ombré swirl of gold and amber.
